“The Death of Peace and Love” (a Poem by KPKeelan)

Whatever happened to Peace and Love?

I remember those.

I’m old.

Back

in those Summers of Love

we found something Humans had lost.

Sadly,

they hadn’t even noticed it missing.

We swallowed the elixir,

dedicated our tender hearts,

placed our faith

in our Higher Angles.

It was all so real to us!

It was a passion

eternal in the passing moment.

We had caught the ear of the world.

We found true peace in love

and thought our love

had changed the Universe.

And it did!

For a Camelot moment.

Here’s the thing:

Among the animal kingdom

Humans have extraordinary skills.

We are very skilled at forgetting.

And we are such prevaricators!

Pretending we cannot hear

the hollow echo of our distant hearts

calling us back

to Peace and Love.
