“Rain!” (a poem by KPKeelan)

It is summer!

it rains…

and rains and rains and rains and rains.

The weatherman

scratches his head and frowns,

trying to figure it out.

The wettest summer

the island has ever seen!

Farmers weep

to see their waterlogged crops

turn to putty in the soupy earth,

their tears mingling with

the soggy sod…

No no no!

Cease and desist!

Dodging the raindrops,

it’s down to the pub for a pint.

That should drown my sorrows

and help me forget

that I cannot petition God

to get my airfare back.
