Poems of a Young Man: “ROCK ME AWAY”

People do

and when I die

if you are still around,

mourn a day only

in joyous release.

Make my wake

a big party.

Invite the world!

(I hope everyone can make it.)

Let there be

tears shed, laughter ringing

and memories

of the energy that was me-

facts and foibles alike.

Remember me for my loving

and feel it.

Though I will not,

that loving will go on

in you

through you

after you’re gone.

That laughter

will rock me away.
