Poems of a Young Man: “SOMETHING I WONDERED ABOUT…”

SOMETHING I WONDERED ABOUT

*

When your mind is torn

and no single path

cries out to be taken

how is one to know

when is something

the I thing to do?

Sometimes

I can’t even tell if something was

the wrong thing to do

even after the deeds were done

and all repercussions, blatantly obvious.

Was it my folly that drove me?

Was it fate?

It seems

we walk a tightrope

between everything

and its opposite,

teetering in a gusty wind.
