“A Happy Reunion in My Imaginary Cafe” (a poem by KPKeelan)

A time of truce

in a world at war,

a strange peace pervades.

It’s a beautiful day

in my imaginary café

and it’s quite a sight to see:

My Heart and my Head

are sharing a coffee

and they’re chatting away

like old friends, reunited.

Neither seems to remember

what planted the seeds of resentment,

all details- blissfully forgot.

But the head still wonders

at the things that made no sense,

and the Heart still bears

the imprint of that hurt.

No matter!

The estranged two are

chattering away like magpies

and I certainly don’t want to interrupt!

Been a long time

since they coffeed together.

Who knows what this means

for the future?

But listen! Good news:

They’re making plans.
