“Incriminating Informants” (a poem by KPKeelan)

*

I see the world going by.

I watch.

I notice.

Much of it

is not okay with me.

We can do better.

We can build a better future

by composting

the fruit of our stupidity.

All is dysfunction and denial.

With each new day

we willingly don these blinders,

restricting ourselves to

the poetry of pretty illusions,

the consolation of comforting constructs.

Trying to paint with a monochromatic palate,

we acquiesce to a bleak ritual

of reward and punishment.

And each of us is an Enforcer!

Authoritarian aristocrat!

Duplicitous pretender.

Like it or not,

we are guileless schemers

giving earnest testimony

against ourselves.

Guilty

as charged.

  1. Yes! You hit the nail on the head, we are all complicit in this monster we have created.
