“Postcards From the Imagination” (a poem by KPKeelan)

*

She’s gone again, my merry Muse,

(Needed a break I think.)

off on vacation

in search of renewal and rebirth-

but it’s different this time.

This time I know

she’ll be back.

This time, she’s staying in touch,

sending me postcards

from the Imagination.

Warm greetings scrawled across the back

reassure domestic serenity

and anticipate future bliss,

So I loll in the November sun,

pouring over these mirthful missives

from another reality-

grinning, pleased

to see the postscripts:

 WISH YOU WERE HERE!

  1. Stacy Fisher says:

Your muse may have been on vacation, but from this poem it sounds like her sister was visiting.

“This time I know she’ll be back” ~ I love the power in that line. The acceptance and confidence in what is. I really like this poem.
