2013 GUESTBOOK 66: “Your Place (for Kevin)” (by Bill Caufield)

Imagine climbing a mountainside,

to a small plateau with a tree topped hill,

where green grass grows like a carpet,

with a view of a lake you’ve never seen.

The climb was hard and you’re exhausted,

but resting doesn’t enter your mind.

You can see it all, so it’s worth the trip.

Gone are all the fears of falls and slips.

Now you’ve seen it, so you rest yourself,

on the green carpet of this, your place.

People come and people go,

but this place most will never see.
