Poems of a Young Man: “Lingo” (© KPKeelan)

Isn’t it precious, the popular jargon?

Comes with the territory.

I should know.

I sweat witticisms.

I ooze charm.

I am sorry I can’t murder more gently.

I am as vulgar as politics,

as proper as extortion.

I now, am late, as usual.

(Explicative deleted!)

If you even begin to listen

you are at my mercy

and between us

we dwell in a merciless land.

Fellow heathen!

Be glib with me.

Be gauche.

Be gaudy.

Be chic, stupid and banal.

Screw everyone!

Backtalk is all the vogue.

Shut up!
