GUESTBOOK 163 (2015): “The Wall Street Journal on Cocktail Manners” (by Stuart Vance & Kevin Keelan)

.

The issue:

what does one do

after the ice is broken?

Reliable sources tell us

to collect the ice cubes.

Sometimes it is said

resisting the temptation

to be a MAN

is futile.

(Make a fist and grit your teeth!)

What does

The Wall Street Journal have to say on the matter?

(And we quote:)

“Gird up your loins

and worship women!

Burn them through

with the heat of your leftovers

and treat them

like so many infant chickens.”

It may seem old-fashioned,

but he motto of this story

is that when the ice is glued back together

it’s time to start all over again.

(And please pass the salt…)
