GUESTBOOK 133 (2015): “Mystery Overdose” (by Stuart Vance & Kevin Keelan)

is like a drug overdose:

the cure-all tonic

like coffee and poetry

(my prescription for the blues)

and Reality

is as illusive as ever.

We displaced suburbians

use Death

as a stimulant.

We use our eyes to overdose,

slip mystery into our cognac,

bend over backward

to dream-

and mystery dogs our trail

with eyes like spotlights

legs of iron

with a will of putty and stone

a sense of humor

like a guillotine!

We bite into the Apple of Sense

and fins a razor blade embedded.

We make friends with the edge

and come away

with a bloody smile…

And Mystery

doesn’t really care.
