Poems of a Young Man: “Christmas in Negative Time” (for Bill) (© KPKeelan)

Dead mistletoe

faded and brittle

hangs in the doorway,

but she wants a kiss anyway.

One or two pretty packages remain

under the corpse of the holiday tree,

awaiting ownership.

One of them is mine.

The way I feel,

one of them could BE me…

(Nicely wrapped,

placed there with purpose

but never collected for use.)

This grimy carpet
attests to the once heavy foot traffic

that has now slowed to barely a trickle.

it’s all downhill from here.

Sliding through

the plate-glass window of 1980…

I just want to sit down.

Comments on living in this “new world”; how to cope in it, how to live in it, how to survive in it without money and how to love in it as you travel down the road, getting older in body, but not in your mind.

My ideas for future 2012-13 postings.

Oh, and another poem that mirrors my life – it’s very scary how you tap into my brain and my life, but with such more beauty than I could put into words.
