Poems of a Young Man: “A Basket of Living”

.

A colorful basket of life

left at your doorstep

is my only offering to your loving.

Cradle it as you would our baby

Nurse it As you would nurse yourself.

Feed it your richest milk.

Help it love enough

to LIVE

and be healthy

and strong

and belong.

Give it your song.

And sing!

Though you know I would give you

anything

everything

this is the only gift I bear.

But it is not free.

It needs you

to set it free.

It cost me

dearly.
