Poems of a Young Man: “Sequel to DECEMBER’S DANCE”

December, you’ve got me on the run…

My soles are bloodied.

My heart is sore.

My eyes, red and taxed

dart about the shadows

seeking respite.

You are so angry December!

What have I done all year to deserve you?

Year after year

you abuse me,

and say goodbye without remorse,

only to resurface the following year!

That’s right.

I’m goddamn furious-

burning up the paper!

You are just a hideous dream

longing to turn nightmare,

but I will not let you.

Play your music.

I’ll tune it out.

I will not dance.
