Poems of a Young Man: “Self-Inflicted Injuries”

.

Binge

after marathon binge

all night

all morning

and all the next day…

It’s the excess of youth:

self-serving

self-defeating

obsessive

and driven by deficit.

These difficult dues are

the consequences of

my own questionable behavior.

 As my own worst enemy,

I’ve been cutting off my nose to spite my face

to such a degree, that

it’s a miracle I have any face left!
