Poems of a Young Man: “The Ripoff of Childbirth” (© KPKeelan)

Women have a wondrous strange gift

that I can never know.

Why can’t I give birth?

Who stole this blessing from me?

At what point did God decide

to discriminate

Y over X?

If God is so all-powerful

why did it have to be one gender or the other?

(Shaking up the paradigm

seems to work fine for seahorses…)

Are there any women out there

who might be open to a temporary

nine month trade?

If you get me pregnant

I’ll have your baby…

(What about you, Patti Smith?

You’re a rock’n’roll nigger.

I’ll bet you’ve got the balls

to share your overies…)
